Artists in schools in Durham & Sunderland
We welcome enquiries from schools for both long-term visual arts projects and one day workshops. These can take place in school or at Bearpark with access to the artists' Studio.
We have worked in over 150 schools during the past 15 years. The kinetic drawing exercise we have developed enables us to move between working collectively and individually with the children. No child feels excluded. It is then possible to develop themes, mediums and structures in many directions. We are constantly developing and refining our approach, partly as a result of our own Studio practice. We involve the children in making aesthetic judgements and democratic choices.
We work at all age levels – Nursery, Primary and Secondary, including ‘A' Level Life-Drawing.
We also offer ‘Twilight' Workshops for Teachers.
‘Jerwood Drawing Exhibition’
Inset days
We have delivered Inset and Training Days for teachers and advisor/inspectors in County Durham. We have also provided “Twilight Workshops” in our Studio for teachers to develop their own creativity.
Creative workshops for teaching and support staff
 |
Planned to suit Nursery, Primary, Comprehensive and Further Education. |
 |
Spend a day away from school engaged in creative collective and individual work. The workshops are appropriate for staff who usually exclude themselves from art activities as well as art specialists. Lack of practical art experience can be an advantage!
|
 |
The workshops are excellent for team building.

 |
Workshops at Bearpark are in a large hall with access to the artists’ Studio and a wide range of materials. |
Alternatively we can come to your school.
We have also delivered many longer-term projects such as murals and banners.
